Picnicking in Plaid

There's something about plaids, gingham and checkered-patterns that make me think of two words: "summer" and "picnic." These two pieces from Forever 21 do just that. Don't they make you want to spread out a big blanket on lush green glass, un-cork a bottle of wine and slice a watermelon?! It's a nice bonus that these patterns happen to be making a splash this season, for both men and women.

This blue and black Gingham Flare Skirt couldn't be cuter and is priced at just $17.80. I love the tiered ruffled front of the Kylie Plaid Shirt, selling for a mere $15.80! (Going into fall, I would pair this plaid shirt with a great pair of cowboy boots!)

The Gap Company recently announced a newly-acquired branch of its company called Athleta, offering sporty clothes, accessories and swim wear designed by women athletes for women athletes! Athleta's giant selection of feminine sportswear is impressive, as is its 100% No Hassle Return Policy that allows you to try anything risk-free. If you are a work-out lovin' girl like me, you have to check out the Athleta site! Getting Fit this Summer

Bathing suit season is upon us and it seems like everyone I know is scurrying to get lean and fit quick! :) Summer is truly a motivating time of year to develop both new eating and exercise habits. Lisa Culling, owner of Solutions: Real Fitness Solutions for Real Women, is a good friend of mine and a fabulous, energetic and passionate personal trainer. Solutions is based in the North Metro Atlanta area and offers in-home personal training for women where the gym is literally comes to you in the comfort of your own home for a very reasonable fee! Additionally, for those of us with hectic schedules, Lisa offers online workouts/personal training and personalized nutrition/diet counseling. Favorite Flip-flops

My hands-down favorite flip-flops are Havaianas.
These flip-flops have been around since 1962 and are by far the most effortlessly stylish and incredibly comfortable and durable flip-flops you will ever wear! Cameron Diaz has been quoted as saying that she orders multiple pairs of White Havaanas each summer and wears them obsessively! Although select stores carry differing selections of Havaianas (including the Gap this summer), to shop the best variety of styles, shop online for men's, women's and kids. I love this "Gregory" Laced Loafer currently on-sale at Banana Republic! Though they list at $64.99 (originally $98) online, I recently spotted them in-store for about $20 less! Several colors available, in both leather and suede. The Gray Suede pictured is my top-pick!
