Get Katherine's Look!

I love Katherine Heigl's sophisticated look during her appearance recently on Good Morning America. Katherine is wearing a J.Crew Silk Frances ruffled blouse (I probably shouldn't admit this, but I found this exact blouse at the J.Crew Outlet for less than half the price last month!!) and a pearl/black ribbon necklace. I love this look...so classic and perfectly intertwining several trends of this fall season: ruffles, pearls and grosgrain-ribboned accessories. Though I cannot vouch that her necklace is the Stella & Dot Jenna Pearl and Ribbon Necklace, it certainly looks identical to it! The Jenna Necklace (pictured below) is a phenomenal buy for this season. Priced at only $44, this necklace can be shortened to make a look like Katherine's or looks great worn long over a plain top or a little black dress.
I just love the styles of this season!

Men's Style Monday:: The Military Jacket

The Military Jacket is the "it" men's outer layer this Fall. Military-inspired jackets, cardigans and sweaters add a trendy, masculine element to any outfit. Old Navy's Men's Jersey-Lined Military Jacket ($49.50) is a perfect, easy layer to throw on this fall.

Love J.Crew's Military Mockneck Wool Cardigan ($168). This cardigan looks great over a tee or dressed up over a button down and tie.
Nordstrom's Black Rivet Hooded Military Coat ($150.00) has a removable thermal-lined hood and can act as a versatile winter coat.

The Boyfriend Jacket

If you are going to invest in one lightweight jacket this year, the boyfriend jacket is the way to go. It's effortlessly chic paired with a long white tee or tank and either leggings or pencil-thin jeans. Layering on lots of necklaces and chains completes the look. Look for a jacket that is comfortable so you can easily move your arms around it (some stretch in the material is nice) and a longer cut, that will hit you around the hips or below if you plan to wear it with skinnies or leggings.
For a slouchier, more casual and warmer take on the Boyfriend Jacket, I love this wooly black one by Free People.

I'm very impressed with The Express Long Boyfriend Jacket. It's a great all around jacket for a reasonable price.

The Bib Necklace

The Bib Necklace is a must-have statement accessory this season. Bejeweled Bib's have been featured on runways everywhere as well as recently in Vogue and In Style Magazines. A Bib necklace looks fabulous paired with a simple tank/tee, jeans and cardigan/blazer as well as dressed up to the nines with a cocktail dress. I can't get enough of Stella & Dot's Natasha Embroidered Bib Necklace and, thus, wasn't surprised when I found it featured in the October issue of InStyle Magazine! It is simply fabulous.
The JET/CRYSTAL BIB NECKLACE at the White House/Black Market offers a similar look::
For a golden glow, the Glow Round Chips Bib Necklace is a perfect accessory.

Fun Flats

There are so many fun flats out this season! I love how flats look with skinny jeans, worn either long or cuffed. The shorter dress and skirt styles of the season, as well as leggings, are perfect styles for sporting a cute pair of flats! Three must-have flat's this season is a patent pair, an animal print and a studed pair. Try a patent pair in a bold color to add some energy to any outfit. With a bright colored shoe, there's no need to accessorize with much else. I love Boden's Patent Trim Flat's ($108, pictured in Red) that come in a variety of fun colors, and are super comfy, too!

As far as animal prints go, my picks are either a leopard print (since it goes with any thing and any color!) (leopard flat pictured by Charles by Charles David on Piperlime.com, $60) or a more subtle snake skin.

And for studs go, Target has a pair super snazzy embellished flats for only $12.99 (The Odell Flat by Mossimo).

Happy Flats Shopping! (Your feet will thank you for it!)

The Legging Look

Every woman who is likes her legs needs to purchase a pair of leggings this fall. Leggings are inexpensive, comfortable way to expand your wardrobe immediately. Invest in a pair of basic black, the most versatile and slimming color to wear. If you are okay with showing off your legs and think you'll wear leggings often, try another color such as gray, brown or ivory, such as the Alternative Skinny Leggings in Gray from Lulu's (pictured, $25) . This season, ankle-length leggings are the length to wear (as opposed to the calf-length's of past season's). Try wearing leggings under flouncey skirts, sweater dresses and oversized shirts and sweaters. Leggings paired with a long tunic or cardigan belted at the waist is an easy, stylish look that virtually every age woman can wear with confidence. Vertically every shoe style-- from flats to heels to boots--look great with leggings. I am loving some of the new leggings looks with detail added at the bottom, such as a zipper or buttons. (Black zippered leggings pictured by Diani.)

Strap Perfect

I recently "took the plunge" and purchased the "As Seen on TV" Strap Perfect at my local Target, thinking for just $9.99, why not give it a whirl?! :) I tried it out for the first time with a tank top, transforming a basic bra into a racer back...and I have to say that I was impressed! Though a bit difficult to put on and adjust at first, this little plastic gadget concealed my bra straps wonderfully and stayed in place all day. I recommend this bra solution as a much less expensive alternative to investing in multiple styles of bras...and I so wish I had found it sooner! And with 6 "Strap Perfects" to a pack, I don't foresee myself having to buy a new racer back bra nor more "Strap Perfects" for quite a while...which frees up more of my clothing budget for "fun clothes," which always is happy news! :)

Monogramed Necklaces

Monogrammed and initial necklaces are showing up on celebrity necks everywhere these days. Taylor Swift has been seen wearing her own swirly monogram (pictured, $242) by designer Jennifer Zeuner. Halle Berry chose a sterling silver "H" necklace by designer Jessica Elliot ($72) while both Cindy Crawford (pictured wearing charms on the cover of the September Redbook) and Katherine Heigl wear gold vermeil stamped initial pendents by Stella & Dot (priced from $29). Get creative and wear your hubbie's/significant other's intials or your kid's initials. Pair initials with a birthstone (this is what Katherine Heigl did) or another charm. These necklaces are also an adorable gift for little girls...or a thoughtful present for a mom or grandmother!

Black Jeans:: A Must-Have This Fall

As you shop for your Fall wardrobe, make sure you add a pair of black jeans to your list. Not only are this colored jeans so flattering on any figure (you can't find a more slimming color than black!!), but black jeans can easily be substituted for black pants this season, as a much more versatile counterpart to your wardrobe. I love that black jeans can easily be dressed up for a night on the town but easily transition to comfortable, laid back weekend-wear. Pair black jeans with whites and gray-tones for a crisp, wintery look or contrast with jewel-tones to add a pop of pizazz. I recently tried on a pair of Cabi black jeans called the "Super Flare" that were oh-so-flattering and reasonably priced at $89 (pictured with purple blouse). Two more to try:: Banana Republic Classic Black Skinny Jean ($90, pictured) and the Always Skinny Black Riding Jeans at Gap ($69).
