Make Up For Ever

I am absolutely loving a new makeup line I was recently introduced to at Sephora: Make Up For Ever. The HD Foundation and Full Cover Concealer are amazing! Not only are they both natural looking and provide great coverage over scars, hyper-pigmentation and under-eye circles, but they are also water-proof (and sweat-proof), which is perfect for staying put during these hot summer months. I was told by three separate make-up artists that this is the best makeup sold in the store...and now I am a believer!

Sephora is currently offering Free Shipping on orders over $50 plus three free samples with every order! You can't go wrong with purchasing cosmetics from Sephora, since they will gladly allow you to return any product with which you are not fully pleased. With that guarantee, there is no reason not to try out a new product...or two!

Men's Style Monday: A Lesson in Matching

Here's a universal men's style tip, that unfortunately many a man don't know (or they choose not to enforce!). I was at a wedding over the weekend and saw all too many guys needing a reminder like this one: A man's socks should be matched to his pants, not his shoe. (Except when he is wearing jeans, then he can match the sock to the shoe.) Additionally, the color man's belt should always match his shoes. (I know, I know, this should be obvious...) Now you can thank me for saving you the embarrassment of mis-matching at your next social or work function. You're welcome in advance. :)

A Bag to Adore

I really do adore this new bag from J.Crew: The Campo Bag. Love the shape and design. Love that it's one of those bags that will just get better with time. It's made from a special oiled leather that wears to a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind color depth, so the longer you carry it, the more beautiful it becomes. In my opinion, it's the perfect year-round handbag.

Fab New Scarves at Target!

I was running (almost literally) through Target today and couldn't help but notice the great scarf selection! It seems no matter how big a rush I am in while in Target, I always seem to make the time to browse the accessory and clothing displays. I was impressed by the colorful patterns and lightwight feel of these scarves...perfect for warm weather wear. Like I always say, scarves are an accessory that adds "instant chic" to any outfit. Consider throwing one over your tees and tanks this summer to add a punch of color to any outfit, no matter how casual. Pictured: The Merona® Blue Tie Die Linen Like Wrap ($14.99), The Mossimo® Pink Happy Floral Lurex Square Scarf ($12.99) and The Multi-Colored Check Print Square Scarf ($12.99). (In this case, I would recommend shopping in-store--soon--for best selection!)

Men's Style Monday: H&M Tees and Briefs

Thanks to my younger brother, who asked me to pick him up some v-neck tees and boxer briefs next time I was near an H&M men's store, I just discovered a new great deal for men over this past weekend! H&M has amazing prices on good quality men's solid color tees (available in both Crew-neck and V-neck) for $5.90 and boxer-briefs that come in a 3-pack for only $12 (I believe that is cheaper than Hanes at Walmart!). Unfortunately, H&M has yet to develop a on-line store (I am hoping...hoping!), so you must shop in-store for these items. Check out the national H&M store locater be clicking here. (Note that all H&M stores do not feature a men's section, so make sure you call the store to confirm they carry men's before making the trip.)

Perfectly Polished

Summer is here! Time to put on those flip-flops and polish those toes! Orangey-reds and corals are hot nail-polish colors this season. Nothing makes your toes (or hands) look tanner than bright coral nails. Shades to try: Essie “Cute as a Button" (pictured), OPI “I’m His Coral-Friend" and OPI "Most Honorable Red."

If bright colored nail-polish is not your thing, neutral nails are also big this Summer. My favorite go-with-anything-neutral polish is OPI's "Bubblebath."

Pack Like a Pro for Your Summer Vacations

I love summer, beach vacations and exploring new places, but I always seem to dread the packing process. The errands, the list making, the over-analyzing of which outfits to take haunts me until I am packed and on the plane. Even then, I inevitably still feel a twinge of fear that I forgot to pack something important. We all need fool proof ways to pack so that our minds can be a bit more carefree going into our vacations. After all, vacations are all about clearing our minds and relaxing, aren't they?

Here’s some tips dressing like a queen, while packing like a pauper:
• Select one guiding tone, either brown or black. Plan all your outfits to match the tone you choose. This will eliminate the need for both a brown and black pair of shoes, belt and bag and immediately lessen your load.
• Pack three pairs of shoe--at most! All you really need for a trip are a pair of flats, a heel (or wedge) and a pair of tennis shoes. A metallic colored shoe serves as a stylish neutral that will complement any color scheme.
• Stick with neutral, basic "bottoms." Consider taking just a pair of denim jeans, white pants/jeans or khakis and a skirt. Then add twice the amount of shirts in the colors of your choice, which will serve to mix and match with your selected bottom pieces.
• Pack one dress that will take you from day into night. It’s ideal to take a simple cotton dress (or a currently stylish long maxi-dress). Such a dress weighs virtually nothing, won't wrinkle and looks great with either flats or heels. Play up your accessories and shoes for the evening.
• Take one layering piece. No matter where you travel this summer, make sure you pack something to keep you warm on unexpectedly cool nights or on a chilly airplane. A denim jacket or a neutral cardigan will go over anything and pairs well with pants or a skirt/dress.
• Don't forget a wrap. Nothing looks more effortlessly stylish than a scarf. Scarves are the perfect travel companions since they are weightless and add a punch of pizzazz and color to any outfit. Pack one or two cheerful-colored scarves, perhaps one solid and one patterned. These will add a new dimension to your solid basics.
• Opt for just one purse and carry it with you on the plane. If you are planning for some dressier nights, pack a soft, compressible clutch in your luggage.
Simplify your jewelry. Silver or gold go with pretty much everything, so select one metal tone for your trip and pack these five pieces: a stud earring (pearl or diamond), a hoop earring, bangle bracelets, a long chain necklace and a short necklace. Each of these pieces can mix and match and be dressed up or down.
• Most importantly, think “mix and match” as you pack. We all know part of the excitement on vacation can be (and should be!) getting dressed each day! The downside of packing light can seem to be not having a plentiful selection to choose from each day. But if you pack a good selection of basics and solid colors that all integrate with one another, you will feel that your vacation wardrobe is larger than it actually is.
Now if I can just follow my own advice…

“The more you know, the less you need.” Aboriginal Saying

Picnicking in Plaid

There's something about plaids, gingham and checkered-patterns that make me think of two words: "summer" and "picnic." These two pieces from Forever 21 do just that. Don't they make you want to spread out a big blanket on lush green glass, un-cork a bottle of wine and slice a watermelon?! It's a nice bonus that these patterns happen to be making a splash this season, for both men and women.

This blue and black Gingham Flare Skirt couldn't be cuter and is priced at just $17.80. I love the tiered ruffled front of the Kylie Plaid Shirt, selling for a mere $15.80! (Going into fall, I would pair this plaid shirt with a great pair of cowboy boots!)

Happy Summer!

Introducing Athleta!

The Gap Company recently announced a newly-acquired branch of its company called Athleta, offering sporty clothes, accessories and swim wear designed by women athletes for women athletes! Athleta's giant selection of feminine sportswear is impressive, as is its 100% No Hassle Return Policy that allows you to try anything risk-free. If you are a work-out lovin' girl like me, you have to check out the Athleta site! A few things to love (even though it's difficult to narrow it down to just a few!): The Printed Chase Skort ($54) couldn't be cuter!
The Dockside Dress ($69) is a totally practical swim cover-up that can easily double as a casual sun-dress. The Teelicious Tank ($39, available in lots of colors) is an uber-feminine, ultra-lightweight and comfy tank you'll want to live in all summer! Oh, and did I mention that Athleta offers a wide variety of sizes XXS thru XL, as well as Tall Sizes? Now there is no excuse not to be comfortable and stylish while working up a sweat! :)

Favorite Flip-flops

My hands-down favorite flip-flops are Havaianas.
These flip-flops have been around since 1962 and are by far the most effortlessly stylish and incredibly comfortable and durable flip-flops you will ever wear! Cameron Diaz has been quoted as saying that she orders multiple pairs of White Havaanas each summer and wears them obsessively! Although select stores carry differing selections of Havaianas (including the Gap this summer), to shop the best variety of styles, shop online for men's, women's and kids. Pictured are the Women's Slim Peacock ($24) and the Women's Basic White TOP ($18).

I love this "Gregory" Laced Loafer currently on-sale at Banana Republic! Though they list at $64.99 (originally $98) online, I recently spotted them in-store for about $20 less! Several colors available, in both leather and suede. The Gray Suede pictured is my top-pick!
